Meet the Award Jury

Eric is a nationally exhibited and award winning artist with a diverse body of outstanding work including sculpture, custom furniture and decorative metalwork. Eric sculpts substantial and elegant pieces. His chosen materials are metal and stone. His sculptures and functional art grace the homes and gardens of several Hudson Valley and Connecticut estates, as well as company headquarters and select US art galleries.

Julie is the former executive director of Rockland County Center for the Arts (RoCA) for 32 years. While at  RoCA, she helped establish the Arts in Education outreach program and the RoCA scholarship fund. Under her leadership, RoCA also won numerous large grants, expanding the outstanding outdoor sculpture park and the children's summer arts camp. Currently she serves as administrator for Rockland County Art in Public Places and works as a consultant for the Queens Council on the Arts' Artist Peer Circle.

Laura founded the Piermont Straus Gallery, which opened in 2011. Laura is also the founder and president of three non-profit organizations, the Piermont Chamber of Commerce, Rockland Culture and the Piermont Straus Foundation.


Laura was a professional photographer for 25 years, and won numerous awards including the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Photography. She has worked for the Artists Rights Society, Magnum Photos, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Abbeville Press. 


Her gallery in Piermont, NY Piermont Straus is also home to her new ceramic studio, Ceramic Eden.

Laura Straus

Colleen earned a Master's degree in Art Administration from NYU with work experience at Metropolitan Museum of Art, artist Keith Haring’s Pop-Shop and Leo Castillo Gallery.  Colleen is a former board member of Edward Hopper House and Rockland’s Art in Public Places.


She was a guest judge for VISA Olympics of the Imagination, Nanuet Central School District, and has organized district wide art exhibits.


She is currently a full time public school art teacher with 25+ years experience, clay instructor at Rockland Center for the Arts and serves on the Arts Council of Rockland. She is the proud owner of The Sunshine Gallery at Garner Arts Center.
